Desert holly (Atriplex hymenelytra) is the sole or conspicuous shrub. Shrubs usually less than 1 meter in height. Canopy open; ground layer sparse; annuals seasonally present.
SITE FACTORS:
Found on alluvial fans, in washes, and on stoney outcrops and ridges. Soils may be carbonate-rich.
DISTRIBUTION:
Very common in the Death Valley area.
