Similar to Northern Mixed Chaparral (37110) but typically not quite so tall (1.5-3m) or dense. Occasionally with patches of bare soil or forming a mosaic with Venturan Coastal Sage Scrub (32300) or Riversidean Sage Scrub (32700). Divisible into Granitic (37121) and Mafic (37122) subtypes based on substrate, but floristic distinctions between these two subtypes remain unknown.
